Government Accountability Commission Warns: Violation of Fundamental Rights Is the Ultimate Crime

May 7, 2025 — The Government Accountability Commission (GAC) today issued a formal public statement clarifying the absolute legal limits binding all government officials and the grave consequences for violating those limits.

The Commission affirms that under natural law, divine law, and foundational American principles, any government act that infringes on the inherent, unalienable rights of the People constitutes the gravest of offenses.

The United States Constitution, Article IV, Section 4, guarantees every State a Republican Form of Government. This form of government, the Commission explains, is not defined by majority opinion, political whim, or temporary societal trends, but by immutable principles of law.

“The end of the institution, maintenance, and administration of government is to secure the existence of the body-politic… and whenever these great objects are not obtained, the people have a right to alter the government and to take measures necessary for their safety, prosperity and happiness.”
— Massachusetts Constitution, Preamble (1780)

The statement draws from Emer de Vattel’s Law of Nations, which declares:

“The Constitution of a state ought to be sacred and inviolable. The sovereign who does not conduct himself conformably to it, renders himself odious and detestable, as a public enemy, who violates the most sacred laws… It is a capital crime against society.”
— Vattel, Law of Nations, Book I, §§34-35

The Alabama Constitution, Article I, Section 35 reinforces:

“That the sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property, and when the government assumes other functions, it is usurpation and oppression.”

Furthermore, St. George Tucker (1803) clarifies:

“If in a limited government, the public functionaries exceed the limits which the Constitution prescribes to their powers, every such act is an act of usurpation in the government and as such treason against the sovereignty of the people.”
— St. George Tucker, Blackstone’s Commentaries: With Notes of Reference to the Constitution and Laws of the Federal Government of the United States and of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Vol. 1, Appendix, Note B, Section 3 (1803).

The Commission also emphasizes that oaths of office are binding upon all public officials, whether taken by word, by deed, or by merely occupying the office.

“What one is bound to do by law, it is the same as if he had sworn to do it.”
— Maxim of Law

The maxims of law further confirm:

“Law is a rule of right, and whatever is contrary to the rule of right is an injury.”
— Maxim of Law
“Every right when withheld must have a remedy, and every injury its proper redress.”
— Maxim of Law

The Commission’s statement makes it clear:

  1. The rule of law is not merely the Constitution or statutes; it is the immutable principles of natural and divine law that underpin all valid law.
  2. While constitutions can be amended by the People, no authority, not government, and not the People themselves—can lawfully alter or abolish the underlying principles of justice and truth.
  3. Ignorance, mistaken belief in presumed authority, or claims of discretion do not excuse violations.

The Government Accountability Commission states unequivocally:

“This is not about opinion or politics. This is about immutable law. Government exists only to secure the rights of the People. Violation of those rights is the ultimate crime, and justice demands full accountability.”
